Students in the Animal Science Summer Academy will explore the lives of animals from insects to alpaca. Activities include nature hikes, pond water sampling, owl pellet and fetal pig dissections, honey collection from our hives and learning about our classroom and barn animals. Students will gain experience using equipment to analyze samples, monitor animal health and extract honey. Much of our time will be spent outside or in the company of animals, so closed-toed shoes and clothes that can get dirty are a must!
If you're an auto racing fan, this class is for you. You'll begin the week by creating a team with your classmates. You'll learn to safely and correctly operate an automotive lift, impact and tire machine and to identify automotive fluids. Teams will participate in a pit row competition.
Participants will learn how to retrieve and translate OBD I and II diagnostic codes with industry-leading scan tools and diagnose and test various electrical circuits using test lights and digital multimeter. Next you'll construct operating electrical switches, discover how an automobile engine functions and discuss and apply OHM's Lawin an automotive setting. Participants also will learn to correctly and safely use pneumatic and electrical power tools.
Students will learn custom painting techniques used in the industry. They will achieve this using airbrushes, paint spray guns, stencils and free-hand techniques. They will layout and complete a pre-determined project. Then, they will be able to come up with their own design for a panel.
The middle school experience is complex for young girls and filled with a variety of pressures from peers, school, society and social media. Through activities and discussions that promote self-confidence, listening and communication skills, healthy relationships and foundations of personal health, girls can learn a strong sense of self-empowerment, build their emotional intelligence and learn how to advocate for themselves and their peers.
Come have some fun exploring careers and some of the CTE programs offered on our campus. Take a glimpse into customer service through designing a family reunion T-shirt. Then, experience early childhood by learning about the importance of play. You'll research and create homemade games for preschoolers in your family to practice their math skills. Check out a fashion show, explore the color wheel in a sweet way, learn about properties of textiles and design your own collection by sketching and learning about croquis. Learn about nutrition and plan a healthy menu, then make a dessert everyone in the family will enjoy while you learn baking and decorating techniques. Wrap it up by learning about work ethic skills and putting them into practice working to create a bulletin board to welcome your family to the reunion!
Participants will complete an American Heart Association HeartSaver CPR and First Aid class. Skills gained will focus on Adult CPR, Child CPR, Infant CPR, AED, Choking, First Aid, Bandaging, Epi-Pens and Splinting. The class will incorporate hands-on skills and team dynamics. Students will progress from learning basic skills, to then being presented scenarios where they must as a team decide what steps should be taken and how best to help their patients. Students will leave proficient in CPR skills that can be used in their school and community settings when necessary.
This program is designed for students who want to bring creative writing, photography, set design and audio production together to create a 15-30 second animated mini-movie using a stop motion process. The video will be provided to students at the end of the program. Please bring a brown-bag lunch each day.

Calling all wildlife lovers! This week-long camp will immerse students into the world of birding. Students will learn to identify common NYS bird species by sight and sound. They will also build a blue bird box and homemade bird treats to take home. Upon completion, students will gain a better understanding of how wild birds affect the ecosystem and the diverse needs of different bird species.
Participants will use two post automotive lifts to lift cars and practice "pit road" type tire changes, while being monitored for speed and accuracy. Students also will use a rim clamp tire machine to dismount, mount and balance tires in a timed competition. In addition, each camper will build a valve cover racer that they will race against other students, similar in fashion to a pine wood derby car, although much heavier and faster.

Each student will learn the importance of hygiene and sanitation, braiding, manicuring, pedicuring and plain facials. Summer of Innovation students will get to work one-on-one with senior students from the Cosmetology program.
What is "street food" and why is it so popular? This type of food is gaining popularity as our American lifestyle seeks meals that can be prepared easily and inexpensively and still taste delicious. Spend a week exploring the current culinary trends surrounding street food and learn how it is affected by regional and cultural differences. A variety of street food options will be prepared daily, including Elote - Mexican street corn, Chicago-style hot dogs, samosas, pierogi and beignets. This camp is offered twice this summer.

Spend a week exploring the current culinary trends surrounding street food and learn how it is affected by regional and cultural differences. A variety of street food options will be prepared daily, including empanadas, pad thai, churros and pot stickers. Students will participate in an off campus field trip to a local street vendor. This camp is offered twice this summer.
If you love art, this class is for you! You'll practice computer graphics (Adobe Photoshop and Premiere), photography, video and vinyl graphics. You will create photo composites using two different images, a vinyl transfer for a T-shirt, a photo cup and a button. You also will produce a short video using key frame animation. Please bring a brown-bag lunch each day.
This program is designed for students who want to bring creative writing, photography, set design and audio production together to create a 5-second animated mini-movie using a stop motion process. The video will be provided to students and, if time allows, students also will create a physical flipbook to take home, as well.

Learn to build your own computer! We'll go step by step through the process, identifying each component along the way. If time allows, we'll set up a multi-monitor display that is a gamer's dream! Day one: Identify basic Personal Computer (PC) components and attach motherboard, ram, hard drive, power supply, CD/DVD drive, etc.; introduce command prompt; PC tear down and PC component identification. Day two: BIOS overview; create batch file; introduce networking cables; make networking cable. Day three: DOS batch file; laptop disassembly part I; peer-to-peer network. Day four: Laptop disassembly part 2; wireless networking lab.; overview of closets and networking devices. Day five: Go over new PC parts; have students build virtual PC; Begin PC build; Complete PC build & do multi monitor set-up, if time allows.
Each student will learn the importance of hygiene and sanitation, manicuring, pedicuring, basic color theory, color application, blow dry techniques and thermal hairstyling. The Summer of Innovation students will collaborate and work one-on-one with our senior students.
Participants of this academy will learn through a variety of methods to include: short lectures (which will include a crime scene technician or police investigator as a guest speaker), "hands-on" activities and role-playing. Each day will include a short mystery that students must solve. Photography can be a vital part of the criminal trial process because it provides the court with visual aids to depict what may have happened at a crime scene. Therefore, participants will also learn the correct procedure and process of crime scene photography.
Besides photography, the following areas will be explored during the academy:
Students will learn about a biological leavening agent/yeast and how it works in yeast bread production. They will complete an integrated science lesson using yeast and learn fundamental skills in the culinary industry, including kitchen safety and sanitation, measuring using kitchen tools, operating kitchen equipment and how to read and follow a recipe. Students will prepare yeast bread each day.
Students will "travel" across the USA by learning about the different types of pizzas that are famous in different areas of our country and the secret sciences behind their dough production. These will include iconic pizzas like New York style, Chicago style, flatbread pizza and California pizza.

Have you ever read a story and wondered what that world looks like? For this workshop, students will experience worlds in virtual reality. They will learn and implement the elements of story telling, as well as create their own virtual story world for others to explore using COSpaces software and ClassVR headsets.
